You know what I hate? I hate when people say that Jacksonville is boring. I think people say that no matter where they live. The town I grew up in in Massachusetts was boring. But you know what? We never hung out there. We traveled. I spent every Friday in Boston, we went to a mall in New Hampshire, nothing that we did was in our town. Not even grocery shopping half the time!
So, to prove that the Jacksonville-area is not boring...here's a list of fun activities, festivals, fairs and dinners that are happening this fall!
North Carolina State Fair October 14 - 24. Raleigh is only two hours away. That's nothing! Military Appreciation Day is on Wednesday the 20th...admission will be FREE! Every other day admission is only $6 online and $8 at the gate.
Havelock Chili Festival October 15 - 16. Havelock is an hour away from Jacksonville, and who knows..maybe you will meet up with other bloggers if you go out there! Friday is chili verde (5pm - 9pm) and Saturday is red chili and salsa (9am - 4pm.) Admission is FREE!
Lighthouse Beer and Wine Festival October 16. Wilmington is also only an hour away. This event is expensive. $30 a person and I recommend getting a hotel. $30 and you get unlimited samples of beer from over 150 breweries. There's food, music, and a free shuttle to take you to the greater-Wilmington area...so drink as much as you want!
CLUE Murder Mystery Dinner Theater October 21 and 28. At the Front Street Brewery in Wilmington. Adults are $40 and kids are $20. Dinner (salad, bacon wrapped meatloaf/chicken fettuccine/shepherds pie, and dessert) and a show!
Brides Ball October 22. New Bern is so close by, if you haven't been...what are you waiting for! The brides ball is expensive but the proceeds help raise awareness and research for the National Cervical Cancer Coalition. Wear your wedding dress or semi-formal dress, guys can wear tuxes! $75 and there will be appitizers, drinks, dinner, dancing, portraits, you can even renew your vows!
Onslow Oktoberfest October 23 10am - 9pm. Right here in good ol' Jville! 5K run, LOTS of live music, Last Man Standing Challenge, beer and brats!
Haunted Pub Crawl Tuesday - Saturdays AND Halloween. In Wilmington. Tickets are $15 and MUST be purchased ahead of time. And you MUST be 21 or older!
Wine Tasting. November 4 at 6pm. At the Infant of Prague Parish Hall in Jacksonville. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 a couple. Includes appetizers and a silent auction. Sponsored by United Way of Onslow County.
There are many many more events going on, these are just a few of my favorites! If you need any ideas of what to do around here...ask! Me and Danny are always doing something. We would love to meet up with people at any of these events!
And Jacksonville-area girls, we are planning a Girls Night Out for October 22nd. Games, pizza and fun. Who wants in?!
