6 Years Down, 44 More To Go

For the next few days I'll be featuring some of my favorite bloggers. I asked them one simple question, "Where do you see you and your husband in fifty years?" Feel free to leave your answer in the comments...I'd love to feature your comments in a post later!

Tonight, pretty-mama Lindsey from A Day in the Life of a Marine Corps Wife is our guest blogger. After reading her guest post, make sure you show her some love over at her blog. Thank you so much Lindsey!

Thank you to Nicole for having me as a guest blogger. Nicole is heading up to Boston to celebrate her Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. So here I am, writing about where I see myself on my 50th Wedding Anniversary.

My husband and I eloped on June 24th, 2004. Only a few days after I graduated high school. We were head over heels in love with each other, some people called it "puppy love" but we knew better. We heard everything from "it'll never last", to "you'll be divorced within a year". Well here we are, almost 7 years of marriage later, happy as ever.

On our 50th wedding anniversary, I will be 68 years old. I picture our daughters gathering everyone for a party like Nicole's grandparents are having. Like Nicole...I will have all my grandchildren flying in from around the country (or world if they marry Marines too!). And when I say grandchildren, I'm talking like 10! I have high expectation for our girls I guess because we only have 2! Yes girls...I want you to have 5 kids each! I want that large house that people love coming too. I have no idea where that house might be. I know my husband is a career Marine so only God knows where we will eventually settle down. I see my husband sitting in his chair (with his retired USMC hat on) telling the kids riddles and showing them magic tricks. (Although when I asked him where he see's himself at 70 years old, he said "probably dead") My husband will be that old man that always says innapropriote things, meanwhile his wife is behind him, shaking her head, just like she did 40 years ago when he told lame jokes.

I get so inspired by couples who celebrate big anniversaries. I am close with a woman who just celebrated her 60th wedding Anniversary. Complete with snail mail during Vietnam and several children. I hope we see that day. Although every single anniversary my husband and I celebrate is so special to us. I feel like we've overcome a lot of obstacles that most young couples don't go through. There were plenty of times when I thought "how am I ever going to get through this". Mostly referring to deployments. I look forward to celebrating all the anniversaries yet to come for us, and I can't wait to spend the rest of forever with my wonderful husband!
