Winter Casual Outfits & My Picks for Petites

Hope everyone had a great NYE and New Year's Day wherever you celebrated it. This year I spent it at my family's house where I stuffed myself so full on my mother's wonderful cooking that I nearly passed out before midnight. We then drove across 5 states the next day to get home...not fun...but I did get some awesome outlet shopping done along the way : )

As for the winter giveaway, I only had one entry, however two readers sent me their casual outfits. Shoshanna sent me her outfits after the deadline just to share some ideas anyways. For sizing reference, she is 5 foot tall and 100-105 lbs. She lives in the cold and rainy (sounds like Boston) Pacific Northwest, works at a very casual job, and does a lot of walking around, so her basis for a casual outfit are fitted layers and comfy pieces.

She likes to do variations of outfits using the same favorite basics, like her Nordstrom BP (a juniors in-house brand) sweaters and Timberland Lexiss walking boots.

Pic 1: Nordstrom BP cardigan size XS, Alternative Apparel organic cotto tee in S, skinny jeans from Wet Seal from many years ago, fuschia pashmina.
Pic 2: Same outfit from Pic 1, with a Nordstrom BP fitted crewneck cardigan in XS layered on top.
Pic 3: Same outfit from Pic 1, with a blazer purchased from France in sz S. (Per Shoshanna - "If you ever travel in Europe or Asia, buy lots of clothes as they tend to run smaller!")
Pic 4: Ann Taylor Loft gray jacket in 00p, necklace from Wet Seal, and navy crewneck sweater from Nordstrom BP in XS.  Shoshanna loves these sweaters as they come in lots of colors every year and are inexpensive yet warm, fitted, and are perfect for layering.

I checked all her sweaters on Nordstrom's website and really love the fitted crewneck. You can't see it as clearly in her photo, but it looks very fitted indeed on the website and comes in eight colors! An XS in juniors typically works well for very petite women because juniors clothing runs small in general. Oh, and this is on sale for only $21 : )
BP also offers this fitted 3/4 length sleeve jersey cardigan, which comes in a crazy sixteen colors for $25 a pop.
Timberland Lexiss boots (very comfy, she attests) can be found here on sale in 3 colors, and come as small as size 5.5:

Kathleen (winner of the my GC giveaway) is a petite from Northern California, where it gets chilly but never cold-cold. For reference, she is a little under 5'2" and 115-120 lbs. She loves Bebe and actively shops all Bebe stores and outlets within a 2 hour radius of her for good finds : )

Kathleen's outfit is, as expected, Bebe from nearly head to toe. Black bomber jacket in XS (similar one here, but in bone color and sz S only), blue cashmere scoopneck sweater in S, black microfiber tank in XS, and jeans in sz 25 (hemmed herself). Boots from Nine West.

A few readers have previously asked me about the fit of Bebe, and to be honest I'm not sure about how their current stuff fits. I found this one dress in XS in my closet from years ago which fits me decently (when it used to be their smallest size). I haven't shopped there since, but now I see they offer itty-bitty sizes like XXS, 00, and 00p as well. Have any readers had luck with these tiny sizes? Some of my picks for petites:

1. Silk blend ruffle halter in XXS, $59. Absolutely gorgeous in red, perfect for a dinner date or an evening out. Elastic ruching accentuates the waist.

2. Tiny ruffles silk top combo dress in XXS, $129, available in 3 colors. Love the purple color, the delicate femine blouse, and the wide waistband and pockets on the skirt. There is even a 5 star review from a petite who bought this in XXS : ) Combo dresses are a Theory favorite, but they run with a $300-$400 price tag.

3. Sheer ruffle blouse in XXS, on sale for $29.99. I'd like this for tucking into pencil skirts.
The above full priced picks seem expensive to me. I couldn't find any coupon codes online, either. I wonder if they have better sales in-store, but then again they probably would not carry sizes XXS or 00.

Thanks ladies for participating! I really enjoyed seeing your winter outfits and am glad you (re)introduced me to some petite-friendly brands.
